Is this a familiar site in your household? It is in ours, thanks to Sweet Terror. Most of the time I can fix the tape but occasionally the tape is toast and must be tossed... or must it? Broken VHS tapes aren't completely useless, especially around this time of year. Pull out the black tape and you have quite a large amount of shiny, black, streamer stuff for all sorts of silly Halloween decorating. You can use it to make a large spider web on your wall, ceiling, fence, etc. Make a shaggy witch wig for your scarecrow or pumpkin. Hang it in front of your door like a beaded curtain. Use it to make curtains over your windows. It makes a great replacement for tissue paper when wrapping a gift, and can be used as a ghoulishly black ribbon too. Hang it from the branches of your trees. Use your imagination and have lots of fun with it.

Great idea! The best yet!
What a great idea!! I have tons of old VCR tapes...
"Mulan" but the dust this past week, so this is a great idea!
You are truly resourceful!
But what happens if I'm too mad to use it for decoration?? Like, if it were my most favorite video the children ruined???? 'Cause that has never happened at my house....... yeah right!!!
What a neat idea. Thanks for the tip. Hmmmm... what movies of my hubby's are around here that I can't stand? I just might shred a few stupid sports movies. (insert maniacal laughter here)

You can also crochet with it!!
Our VCR has been possessed lately and has eaten a bunch of tapes. NOW I know what to do with them :)
