For Just One Week.
Ok, so the ball thing only lasted for two and a half days. It was just as silly and impossible as I expected it to be. Just imagine trying to use a gigantic, blue rubber ball as a tool in a house with 5 kids. It was mayhem. But the kids sure got a kick out of seeing me sit on that thing at dinner. =)
.
I will say that Dwight was right, it really did improve my posture, and I was using muscles that regular chair sitting never uses. And it was loads of fun bugging my husband Dwight style at dinner those first two nights. Hee hee. The reason I didn't keep up with this goal, and have no remorse or guilt either, is because I'm still rocking my baby to sleep and Cheeks HATES being held while on a "fitness orb." So, I had to stop this goal for the sake of an innocent child (and for my sanity; big rubber ball + kids = mom go nutso). But if you aren't rocking a baby to sleep, and love bugging your husband, I highly recommend it.
.
For this next week I have 2 goals.
.
1. Train Cheeks to fall asleep in his crib. I will be strong. I will not give in. I will curl up into a fetal position outside the bedroom door and cry like a baby as I listen to my child cry for his mother. I will wish I had trained him to do this earlier for just a split second and then remember all those lovely moments, cradling his warm body against my breast as he slowly drifted off to sleep. Then I will cry some more until we are both crib trained. Motherhood is rough.
.
2. I will try my best to stick to a three meal menu for this whole week. My goal is to pack lunches for everyone each morning, that way I can take the younger kids out during the day and just take our packed lunches with us. Note that lunch and breakfast are set for the kids. Mr. Hots and I might choose other things for these meals. I'm also hoping not to have to go to the grocery store for anything but extra milk this week. I tried to be careful when grocery shopping today to get everything I would need.

.
Saturday

*** Don not panic at the lack of ice cream on this menu. I just hate redundancy and it would drive me nuts having to write in all the ice cream I will eat this week. Have you ever heard of reading between the lines? Well just imagine that between each line it says "Snack: Eat ice cream."
Hopefully all this baking and cooking will keep my mind off the sweet baby crying himself to sleep in the next room. I really hope he is like my other kids and figures it out in just a day or two. If not I will be kneading a lot of tears into those bread doughs.
.
What are you planning to do this week?

Okay, the ball thing cracked me up.

And crib training is ROUGH. I will not bore you with how many "discussions" this triggered between my husband and I.

"Come on, he's old enough to fall asleep on his own!"

"He's only 4 days old!"

"He needs to learn sometime"

"sob sob sob sob sniffle snob"

(umm yeah... I won that one, the kiddo was held until he fell asleep, then placed in his crib... until he was too big for me to do it anymore. and I don't regret a single night).

Please... share your falafel with cucumber sauce recipe - sounds delicious! :)

Crib training was never a tough time for us, just getting them to sleep through the night. Can't count how many hours I spent hanging outside my children's doors just sobbing!

It sounds much more interesting than meals at my house. Well... maybe not more interesting. Maybe just tastier.
