Idaho for Ice Cream

I told Mr. Hotness that I had to come to Idaho to see my family and let the kids build good memories with their cousins... and we are, really. I've stayed up late every night talking and laughing with my siblings, I've been properly embarrassing myself in front of my baby brother's fiancee, the kids are forgetting how to take baths or use utensils when eating, and I'm wondering if I can ever go back to real life again... it's all good. But I have to admit that there was an ulterior motive to my gas guzzling vacation, and it is ice cream. Not just any ice cream, mind you, but one of my all time favorite ice creams that you just can't get anywhere else these days except at the Super Wal-Mart in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Ooooooh, sweet, buttery, graham-crackery ribbons of crust laying side by side with just the right amount of nectar sweet strawberry glaze, encased in a cheesecake ice cream that actually tastes a bit like cheesecake (and not like an overly chemicalized vanilla). I bought two, one for my sister's house and one for my mom's so that no matter where I was sleeping there would always be one waiting for me in the freezer. And I'm not sharing.

800 miles divided by 18 miles/gallon x $4.50/gallon for 2 half gallons of Breyer's Sarah Lee Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream @ $3.50 each = you do the math.

Yeah, you are probably right, I'd better buy some more to make the equation equal out.

Lucky for you, I don't do math. So your long drive for ice cream makes PERFECT sense to me. Seriously.

Been missing your posts...I hope you're having a ball.

Love the title of this post, BTW. My mom is from Burley/Boise and we tease her all the time about her great home state name with snappy comebacks like ..."and you da pimp" or something else equally inappropriate.:-)

uuummm...I just reread my comment and I'm REALLY hoping you didn't just simply mean that you went all the way to Idaho for ice cream and more that "you're da ho" for ice cream. Yikes. I've never actually met you and I'm already calling you names.:-)

i am missing your posts but so glad to know that you are soaking up the summer with your family in idaho. i wondered what kind of ice cream you'd be enjoying there.

i have spent most of the summers of my life visiting idaho falls. my grandmother lived there until she passed away in early 2007 and i haven't been back since the funeral. she had a vacation home--a rustic cabin on palisades reservoir and i really miss that beautiful spot (as well as my grandma!:)

i must say that i generally despise cheesecake flavored ice cream. i guess because they usually don't taste like the real thing, which is one of my top five favorite desserts--i could never choose one. but if you say it tastes real and not chemical, i might just start looking around for that flavor. my house might be slightly closer than idaho falls. then again, maybe not.

Too bad there is not a way to get it safely home. Maybe you could drive home in a rented refrigerated truck. The kids would be too cold to bug you.

My husband had the same problem when we left the Northwest. He can't find his favorite ice cream. And the man is almost at your level when it comes to his love for ice cream. Almost. :"-)

Amber M. - Ha ha ha! I didn't mean it that way, but I wish I had. Your title interpretation is much funnier, or more funny. I remember many an "I da Ho" jokes in highschool.

Michal - I'm very bribable. =)

Awesome Mom - I've thought of that. Seriously.

That sounds so good! I will have to get me some next time I am out that way (which will probably be a while :( .)

Knowing you, you will figure out a way to get your ice cream home.

Maybe just call the company and have them ship you your own delivery?!?

Glad you enjoyed your time with the family and enjoyed your icy treat!

Too bad you and Mr. Hotness are running away together . . . that means I get to finish off the carton you left at my house! Bwahahahahahaha

P.S. Pick up a few more cartons before you get back!

As the wife of a fellow ice-cream addict, Sara Lee's strawberry cheesecake is one of his favorites!

I just discovered the existence of Jelly Belly jelly beans that are flavored like Cold Stone Creamery. They are RIDICULOUS.

Now I know the equation.....I can eat more!

That is some good ice cream! Have you tried the Ben & Jerry version of the same flavor? The graham cracker crust in it is to die for.

I'm laughing because Hero managed to save my Lemon Custard ice-cream from Murphy's (3 hrs away). I'm waiting until the kids go to sleep tonight. I feel that there truly is no sacrifice too great for really good ice-cream. ;-)
