Hey, Everybody, It's Family Night

Hey, everybody, it's family night! Monster Man is in charge of teaching the lesson tonight. Of course I have to help him, he is only 5 and this is his first time teaching the lesson, but I really want this lesson to come from him. Lately, Monster Man, Pablo, and I have been studying the Joseph Smith history along with our nightly scripture study. So, I went online and found pictures that correlated with the things we have learned so far. I printed each picture twice on card stock and cut them out (I wanted them cut nicely so that we can reuse them in other lessons). I just asked Monster Man to tell me about each picture and he did so rather well. He calls John the Baptist, John the Baptismal and I can't seem to change his mind about this, but I think it is cute. Then we will play a matching/memory game with the cards and Monster Man will explain each picture as the matches are made. It should only take 10-15 minutes which is perfect for his attention span. I am really enjoying this new phase in our family where I am not the only one doing EVERYTHING. It gives me hope that someday I will be able to say, "Go do your chores," and they will do them without me watching over them the whole time. Cookie is already at that stage and I LOVE it!

Oh, and I am in charge of refreshments tonight so I am going to use up some of that Halloween candy. I am going to pop a bunch of popcorn, melt a bunch of Snickers bars, drizzle on top of the popcorn and VOILA, peanutty, chocolatey, carmel popcorn.

My kids do the lesson for FHE with help from Mom too. I too look forward to the day when Mom doesn't have to do quite so much. I love the Joseph Smith lesson. Perfect for a 5 year old or even younger. I may have to steal the idea.

I want some of that popcorn! YUM! The snickers from our Halloween candy are, sadly, already gone.

John the Baptismal, LOL :)
That's cute, we talked about Angel No-mo-ri for the longest time until C could finally say Moroni.

We need to delegate the FHE lesson more around here. But I'm on a good roll doing the latter-day prophets right now, so maybe after that.
