(GIVEAWAY AT THE END)
I just received some of the coolest mail ever! No, really, literally the coolest mail ever. I got ice cream... in the mail. So cool!
When it comes to ice cream it's not what you know, it's WHO you know, and I know J--. See his pic? I've never actually seen the guy so I had to guess a lot when drawing him. Anyway, J-- contacted me recently about some new ice cream products that I might want to review on my blog. J-- works for Unilever Ice Cream who owns Breyers, Good Humor, Popsicle, and Klondike... J-- has my dream job. They have several new products and were kind enough to send me a few to try. Years ago I dreamed of blogging for money, but I'll willingly blog for ice cream too. =)
Before I tell you about the ice creams I should preface by saying that these products are part of Unilever's goal to provide healthier options in ice cream. I am NOT a fan of diet, sugar free, low fat, or try-to-be-skinnier foods. I am also brutally honest when it comes to ice cream.
First up is Breyers Double Churn Fat Free Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
I gotta say this was the first chocolate ice cream that I've ever REALLY liked. Instead of tasting like frozen dirt it tasted soft, creamy, and good. Kind of like the difference between a Hershey's chocolate bar and Swiss chocolate. The only problem were the brownie chunks. They tasted dry. There is a Double Churn Fat Free French Chocolate, though, that doesn't have the brownie chunks and I bet that is just as heavenly. In fact I plan on buying some to try. If so, then Breyers will be the first people to make a chocolate ice cream that I like or even (dare I say it?) love.
Popsicle has come out with their own version of the original Dippin' Dots. Little tiny frozen balls of ice cream that roll around on your tongue. These were good. I can't say they were great, but they were good. I will say this for them, the kids loved them and anything that makes me look cool to my kids is great in my book. Something about tiny little balls of ice cream had my kids giggling last night as I kept pouring more into their bowls. And that is a benefit right there: no scoop needed. Just shake the box up, open, and pour into your bowl. And a little went a long way so don't let the small box turn you off.
Slim-a-Bear 100 calorie ice cream bars. If you want to enjoy some ice cream without over doing it then I have to give the English Toffee bars 2 thumbs up. The French Vanilla didn't do anything for me but the Toffee flavor was yummy, I felt satisfied, had a pleasant flavor in my mouth long after eating it and I had no desire to keep going back for more. I've tested this phenomenon 3 times now and it holds steady. I'm satiated and happy and don't need to binge. This did not happen with the Klondike Sundae Cones where I ate the entire contents of a 9 cone box in 3 hours (YUM!).
Now, like any good dealer, J-- has given me some freebies to give to my friends. So if you want some free ice cream just tell me what your favorite Breyers, Klondike, Good Humor, or Popsicle ice cream is. I will pick 10 random commentors at midnight tomorrow and announce the winners on Saturday.
And lest you think I'm not following through on my giveaways... I've picked my Pay it Forward people... finally.

Please email me your mailing address (lizzyvance at gmail dot com) so I can ship you your surprise (and you will get some free ice cream too).

My favorite Breyer's ice cream is the natural vanilla with the little flecks of vanilla bean in it. It is so smooth and tastes just like the french vanilla ice cream I ate in Paris...it brings back happy memories, in addition to tasting heavenly!
My husband respected my blogging a whole lot more when I got an iPod for doing it. It is funny how that works out.
I think the Klondike bars sound very tasty. We eat a lot of ice cream and it is always fun to try something new.
I love Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or the Cookies and Cream Breyers Ice Cream. Yum!
What a perfect giveaway for your site!
I'm a cookies-n-cream gal! Breyer's mint chocolate chip is also really good.
You gotta love ice cream. Especially FREE ice cream! Those ice creams that you featured look great! I featured your post in my link round-up this week.
I can never pick a favorite ice cream! I have tried, but I just can't!!! And when it comes to ice cream novelties...I'm just as much at a loss. I will say...that if you just need a good old stand-by in the freezer to go with your brownies, cookies or pies - Breyer's Vanilla Bean (and I do love the Double Churned stuff)is simply divine!
Yes, I like all ice cream. Especially while I'm pregnant (which I am). I love cookies and cream.
I'll tell DH he doesn't have to worry any more about your drug dealer best friend :)
My favorites are mint chocolate chip and Klondike Dark chocolate bars.
What a perfect giveaway for you!
I love Bryers cookies and cream or chocolate chip cookie dough.
What a great giveaway!
LOL! Drug dealer...hehe :)
I've got to tell you...that Breyer's Double Churn Fat Free Chocolate Fudge Brownie ROCKS! I didn't hold out much hope for it...but it's fabulous!
I've been lurking on your blog since I found it through my sister, Amanda, but for free ice cream I'll gladly make myself known. I'm not that familiar with Breyer's flavors but I found a Waffle Cone Ice Cream I'd love to try or the fat free Chocolate Brownie sounds good.
The DH and I really like Breyer's sugar-free flavors, but I heard about a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Klondike bar. That sounds SUPER divine to me. I haven't seen them in a store yet though.
I have to be honest with you, Lizzy. I don't like ice cream. I read your blog because I like YOU. I hope we can still be friends:-)
BUT, my husband is the second biggest ice cream lover I know (you being the first) and since I am the grocery buyer, I can tell you HIS favorite ice cream flavor. Deal? He likes ice cream with stuff in it. The more stuff, the better. So I'd have to pick Peanut Butter Tracks. If I win, I'll gladly pass the spoon to him:-).
Amber M,
I just.... I just don't know what to say. I didn't know it was posible for someone to not like ice cream.
Luckily I like you too much for that to mar my opinion of you. And you are also an ice cream lover by marriage, so you are safe. =)
I'm weird, I love the Carbsmart icecream by Breyer's
i love breyer's because it's not full of chemicals and words you can't pronounce. my favorites are the fruit flavors (peach, strawberry, black cherry,) although their neapolitan is fab. i have a hard time choosing favorites--can you tell?
i'm excited about pay it forward.
Oh, Oh, Oh Thank you for the pay it forward. You've made my day!
Yikes! Those popsicle shots look like fun! Dippin Dots are hard to get around here...
Me... I can put away those Klondike bars like they're going outta style!!!
Glad to see you're back to blogging - we missed you!
I have to go with your first blogger, Erin. The vanilla with the little bean specks is my favorite. Take the specks out, and you can keep your plain vanilla ice cream! :)
I tried Breyer's Sara Lee Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream last night on your recommendation and it was fabulous! It is, by far, my new favorite. So thanks!!!
Do I have to pick just one flavor? That's too hard. How about Ben and Jerry's entire line, I have not tried a flavor I have not liked! Breyer's entrie line is good too. But just incase you don't pick me because I did not pick a specific flavor I'll have to say Mint Chocolate Chip never dissapoints!
Once upon a time I loved, loved, LOVED Starbuck's icecream. Back in the day, that was one YUM-O treat.
Gotta be Breyers. And it's gotta have coffee!
Breyers is the best. As far as a flavor, anything with chocolate or peanut butter. Fruit does not belong in ice cream for me!
And glad you're back. I think I'm needing some pregnant ice cream before I deliver in a couple of weeks!
So... Ice cream happens to be one of the only desserts I actually like. And I'm quite curious about Popsicle's Dippin' Dots. I'm not sure I've ever had the real version, so these will probably be fantastic to me. Here's one to avoid (though, due to your refined ice cream palate, you prob wouldn't go here anyways): Breyer's Mud Pie OVERLOAD! It's not even ice cream... but frozen dessert, something we didn't notice until after we brought it home. It tastes like fudgesicles... which isn't all that awful, so long as you're prepared. :P

do they have a milk free colour free high fructose free ice cream? oh wait, i know, that's ICE! ;)
i'm a chocolate kinda gal though, i loved breyers. we have choco and vanilla and some nasty green ice cream with choc chunks in it that just ain't natural ;) i buy it all for them...lol ;-)
